PROJECTS
01. FunkadelicDelving into the expressive potential of typography, glyphs, and symbols, my typeface design course was an opportunity for me to create my own font inspired by a genre of music.
I chose to focus on funk music, a very expressive, unpredictable, and exciting genre. Inspired by these characteristics, I made letterforms that had movement and stretch, almost as if they were dancing to music.
02. Alt-Text
Alt-Text is a publication focused on the intersection of disability
culture and design in contemporary society. Visually inspired by the
non-commercial, handmade aesthetics of zine-making, each piece aims to uplift the voices
of disabled people and spotlight a growing movement of solidarity and pride among those with chronic illnesses, mental disability, and neurodivergence.
03. 2022 FIT Triptych Show
Throughout my Fall 2022 semester, I worked on a set of three triptychs for the annual FIT Triptych Show, a pinnacle of the school’s graphic design department. Our task was to create triptychs of posters promoting a fictional symposium on a subject of our choosing.
I focused on police brutality and abolition in America, using symbols and imagery aiming to reflect the struggle between Americans (particularly people of color) and an oppressive, bloated police force.
I also created a coordinating typographic animation to be displayed at the show, utilizing graphic elements found in my third poster set.
04. Enoch Root
This project was a close collaboration between myself and the frontrunner of alternative-progressive rock band Enoch Root. I developed the band’s visual
identity and logo, complimenting the music’s intricate storytelling.
Later in the year, I was also asked to create a minimal shirt design for their single Domino.
05.
Always Rebranding
Always is a staple of the feminine hygiene products aisle, appearing on almost every retail shelf in America. As a brand, they’ve made considerable efforts through marketing to uplift strong women, inform young girls across the world about period care, and end period poverty.
As forward-thinking as Always is, they could go even further with their “activist” brand personality, appealing to a gender-neutral consumer base, using more candid language regarding periods, and defying patriarchal taboos about menstruation.
This hypothetical rebranding project aims to do just that, and was completed for my Capstone Design Studio class at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT).
06. Otto
For a brand identity course, I developed the fictional brand Otto: an online pet retailer with an emphasis on its dog foster parent program. The brand is young, playful, and friendly, with vibrant brand colors and simple typography.
I found this project to be a useful exercise in logo development, packaging design, copywriting, and brand application to a variety of touchpoints.
07. Google Pixel Watch Ad
This small advertisement was created for a motion design class. The assignment focused on branding and tastefully exhibiting a chosen product’s design.
I chose to feature the newly-released Google Pixel Watch, spotlighting the watch’s range of customizable bands and interfaces.
Tools used include Photoshop and After Effects.
